A BIG Discovery

Let me ask you something, what is the biggest dinosaur ever found? Most people would say the Tyrannosaurus Rex (Also known as T-Rex or King of the Dinosaurs), but it isn't true. The correct answer is the Australotitan Cooperensis.

In Australia, 2005, 14 year old Sandy Mackenzie made a "big discovery". You might be wondering what discovery that wast? It was the Australotitan cooperensis. It's a “big discovery” because the Austalotitan is as big as a basketball court. At 80 to 100 feet, it is one of the largest dinosaurs found in the entire world. When Sandy made this discovery, he didn't know it was a dinosaur, he thought it was a piece of copper! That’s how he discovered the biggest dinosaur in history...

In August 2021, they found another one of these dinosaurs in Queensland, Australia. Back in 2005, Sandy found only one of the bones (a leg bone). But, this year the Queensland Museum completed the skeleton! After lots of work, the museum discovered that it was one of the biggest dinosaurs in Australia, and the world! Resuming the hard work, Doctor Scott Hocknull Said: "It's taken this long because it's such a painstaking piece of work. You've got to take the bones out of the ground, you've got to prepare the fossils and then you've got to study them and compare them against all other species of dinosaurs worldwide”.

The Australotitan Cooperensisis a huge long-necked dinosaur (known by most people) or Sauropodus. And as mentioned, its groundbreaking measurements have made lots of experts in these fields classify it as one of the biggest dinosaurs in the world.

Overall, the Australotitan Cooperensis is one of the Biggest Discoveries ever found.

“Discoveries like this are just the tip of the iceberg,"

Doctor Hocknull said. ``Our ultimate goal is to find the evidence that tells the changing story of Queensland, hundreds of millions of years in the making.``
