The much anticipated Netflix series finally released its second season after premiering in 2020 leaving us all with the question of whether it is better or worse than the first season. Having reached a record for being viewed for over 625.49 million hours over the first full four weeks of its release by users worldwide, it left them wondering: was it a Bop or Flop?
This season now focuses on the older Bridgerton brother, Anthony, who after accompanying his younger sister Daphne in her quest for love throughout season 1, is now looking for love himself. Although Daphne (played by Phoebe Dyvenor) makes rare appearances throughout the season, it is the absence of the dear Duke of Hastings that has left fans missing his character and the storyline between him and the eldest Bridgerton sister. On the other hand, we were introduced to the Sharma sisters, Kate and Edwina, who both leave an impression on Anthony, unraveling their story with him during the entirety of the second season with loads of unexpected events and romances along the way. The absence of the Duke leaves a hole, but it is the sweet family moments and bonding between the siblings that fill it with the joy between them.
And for those who were in the group of viewers and were anxious about the next series, It was recently announced that the show has been renewed for a third and fourth season, in which we will see more of the Bridgerton siblings' quest for love just like in the books where Benedict marries in the third and Colin and Penelope are finally brought together into marriage in the fourth book. After its massive viewing, the public’s warm acceptance of new characters, and its praise online, I would say that this season has definitely been a Bop.
